Job Purpose:
The Logistics Coordinator plays a critical role in managing the daily supply chain operations. This position is responsible for overseeing the lifecycle of product movements—from raw material acquisition to final delivery. The primary goal is to ensure maximum efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and total compliance with domestic and international shipping regulations while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
• Shipment Management & Routing: Plan, schedule, and track inbound and outbound shipments (air, ocean, rail, or over-the-road freight) to ensure on-time delivery.
• Carrier Selection & Negotiation: Source, vet, and maintain relationships with third-party logistics (3PL) providers, freight forwarders, and shipping carriers. Negotiate competitive freight rates and service level agreements (SLAs).
• Export/Import Documentation: Prepare, review, and process accurate shipping documentation, including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Bills of Lading (B/L), and Certificates of Origin.
• Customs & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all shipments comply with domestic and international trade laws, customs regulations, and standard commercial terms (Incoterms). Resolve any customs clearance delays promptly.
• Inventory & Warehouse Coordination: Collaborate with warehouse managers to monitor stock levels, coordinate storage space, and streamline the loading/unloading schedules.
• Issue Resolution & Tracking: Monitor shipments in real-time, proactively address disruptions (such as weather delays, port congestion, or carrier issues), and provide accurate updates to internal teams and clients.
• Cost & Performance Analysis: Audit freight bills for accuracy, track logistics expenditures, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) like transit times and carrier reliability to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Required Skills & Core Competencies:
• Supply Chain & Incoterms Expertise: Deep understanding of logistics workflows, warehouse operations, and international shipping terms (Incoterms 2020).
• Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Logistics Management Software, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (like SAP or Oracle), and advanced Excel.
• Problem-Solving & Agility: Strong ability to think critically and react quickly to supply chain bottlenecks, tight deadlines, and unexpected shipping delays.
• Communication & Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively liaise between suppliers, customs brokers, carriers, and internal departments (Sales, Finance, Procurement).
• Detail Orientation: High level of accuracy in data entry and document review to prevent costly customs penalties or shipping errors.
Qualifications & Experience:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (relevant certifications like CSCP or CLTD are a major plus).
• Experience: 2–4 years of proven experience in logistics coordination, freight forwarding, or import/export operations.
